The
History:
Vleikop Beefmasters originated with the purchase bulls and
heifers from Boschveld Beefmasters in 1984. Later, more
pregnant heifers were bought from Jan Wessels. The herd is
very well known for producing calves with a very low birth
weight.
The calves are reared on natural grazing. The herd performs
well on hard veldt conditions. Vleikop Beefmaster bulls have
performed well on the Beefmaster "Young bull trait leaders"
list. Since 1997 bulls from Vleikop Beefmasters have fetched
top prices at bull sales in the Eastern Cape.
SALES:
Bulls are sold on the farm as well as on the annual Smaldeel
multi breed bull sale held at Adelaide at the end of August
of each year.
New Bull:
A new stud bull, 4x4 02-174,a Tjekbook son, was purchased at
the Beefmaster Bull sale of Francois Scheepers of Amersfoort
in August 2004. We have just bought a new bull
from Boschveld Beefmasters in 2009.
The young bulls for the 2010 season
have just come in.

PERFORMANCE
Leonie Yendall bought 2 Vleikop Beefmaster Bulls at the sale
in 2000
One of her other bulls died and she had to use these two
young bulls together with one other bull in her herd of 90
cows.
In her own words: "The 2 youngsters did most of the work."
She had a 96% pregnancy rate.
The two bulls also has a natural resistance to ticks as
their coats are very short and smooth.
We have
bought a very nice young bull at the
recent
National Beefmaster sale from Boschveld Beefmasters.
He is red and naturally polled.
