Johan, Ezelle, JJ, Francois and JP lives at
Gallantskloof, Cookhouse. Gallantskloof is situated in the Bedford
district the Eastern Province of South Africa about 160km from Port
Elizabeth, 27km from Bedford, 70 km from Cradock and 30 km from
Somerset East and 10km from Cookhouse.
The Marais family bought Gallantskloof in 1996 and developed it into
a top stud and irrigation farm. We breed a variety of top quality
stud animals. Ezelle also runs an embroidery and promotions business
from home.
At Gallantskloof we produce lucerne and maize. We also farm
extensively with Merino sheep and Angora goats. We have a Beefmaster
cattle stud as well as the Indiana Cape Boerperd stud and a Boer
goat stud.
Ezelle breeds Color Point Persian cats and Great Dane dogs. The kids
breed Jack Russell terriers.
As you can see from the above - this is a farm where animals are
bred.
Johan is a professional hunter and he takes a couple of selected
clients on hunts on the farm each year.
Both Johan and Ezelle are board members of the Cape Boerperd
Breeders Society as well as the SA Boerperd Amateur Union. As a
service to these organizations, Ezelle also runs a section of this
website as special pages for these organizations.
We have different pages on this site for the different studs and
activities. Simply click on the desired topic to get to the relevant
page.
In November 2003 Ezelle published her second venison recipe book
called "Venison for every day, high days and holidays". This book is
also available in Afrikaans under the title " Liplekker Wildsvleis
2". Ezelle works with venison almost every day. She loves cooking
and this book was compiled because of the need for a recipe book
with simple easy recipes as well as something for the exotic
palette. Our Photo
